Implementation Plan for Ideological and Political Education in Courses of

the School of Foreign Languages, Central South University

In order to fully leverage the role of courses as the primary channel in ideological and political work in colleges and universities, effectively advance the implementation of ideological and political education across all courses at the school, promote the effective integration of ideological and political education with both professional and general education, and ensure that such education achieves tangible results, the following adjustments have been made in accordance with the Guidelines for the Construction of Ideological and Political Education in Courses in Higher Education Institutions (No. 3 [2020], Ministry of Education), the Implementation Outline for the Quality Enhancement Project in Ideological and Political Work in National Higher Education Institutions (No. 62 [2017], Party Group of the Ministry of Education), and other relevant policy documents, and the work arrangements and requirements set forth in the Central South University Undergraduate Education Action Plan (2019–2023)” and the Notice on the Implementation Plan for Ideological and Political Education in Courses at Central South University”. Upon approval by the School’s Party and Administration Joint Conference, the personnel structure and implementation plan of the School’s Teaching and Research Center for Ideological and Political Education in Courses are adjusted as follows:

I. Structure of Center

II. Responsibilities of the Center:

1. Developing research plans, implementation strategies, and annual work plans for ideological and political education in courses in the School of Foreign Languages

2. Conducting theoretical research, innovative practice, and promotional work related to the content of ideological and political education in courses in the School of Foreign Languages

3. Organizing teaching observation, teaching seminars, and other pedagogical research activities for faculty members;

4. Strengthening the faculty team for ideological and political education in courses in the School of Foreign Languages, and enhancing their educational capacity.

5. Organizing and guiding faculty members in implementing teaching reforms centered on ideological and political education in courses, conducting instructional design for such education, advancing the integration of ideological and political education elements based on disciplinary characteristics, thoroughly identifying and utilizing the ideological and political elements and functions embedded in each course, and ensuring that ideological and political education is integrated throughout the entire teaching process, thereby achieving an organic unity between value guidance and knowledge instruction;

6. Organizing the development of general education courses under the One School, One Course initiative, drawing on the Schools educational traditions, strengths, and resources, as well as the historical development of its disciplines, to deeply explore ideological and political elements within the disciplinary evolution and create distinctive general education courses infused with ideological and political education.

7. Organizing the evaluation and recommendation of relevant ideological and political education development projects within the school, formulate support plans for the schools ideological and political education research projects, and provide funding support.

III. Working Mechanism

1. The Office of the Schools Teaching and Research Center for Ideological and Political Education Across Courses is located within the Schools Academic Affairs Office, which is responsible for coordinating relevant arrangements.

2. Focusing on the fundamental task of fostering virtue through education, the Center will deepen the understanding of the strategic significance of developing ideological and political education in courses. It will fully leverage the roles of faculty members teaching specialized courses as the primary force, specialized course instruction as the main battlefield, and specialized course classrooms as the primary channel. By continuously advancing new progress and achievements in this field, the Center will ensure that general education courses, foundational specialized courses, and ideological and political courses are aligned in purpose and direction. This will help establish a long-term mechanism for fostering virtue through education and create courses including ideological and political education that reflect the distinctive disciplinary and institutional characteristics of the School.

3. Leveraging the universitys Faculty Teaching Development Center, the Center will organize specialized training and a series of educational and teaching activities themed around ideological and political education in courses, enhancing faculty awareness and competence in this area. Relevant experts and scholars will be invited to provide in-depth interpretation and targeted guidance on teaching courses, including ideological and political education. Teaching observation sessions, seminars, and workshops on integrating ideological and political education into teaching will be organized.

4. The Center will strengthen the supervision and management of ideological and political education in courses. Experts in this field from within and outside the university, as well as members of the Teaching Guidance Committee, will be invited to provide guidance on the Centers work. Members of the Teaching Supervision Team will be invited to conduct dedicated evaluations and assessments of ideological and political education during classroom observations. As needed, the School will organize an annual seminar, review, and exchange meeting on teaching ideological and political education in courses. Exemplary practices will be promoted and recognized, and faculty members who make significant contributions and achieve outstanding results in the reform of integrating ideological and political education into teaching will be given priority in various awards and recognition, professional development opportunities, project applications, and promotions.

5. Focusing on strengthening studentsideals and beliefs, with the core themes of love for the Party, the country, socialism, the people, and the collective, the Center will guide faculty members to integrate ideological and political design into courses based on program objectives. The goal is to effectively convey correct values, ideals, and beliefs to students in a subtle and enduring manner.

6. Should adjustments to the members of the Teaching and Research Center for Ideological and Political Education in Courses or its Expert Committee be required due to changes in work assignments, proposals shall be submitted by the Associate Dean in charge of teaching, discussed and decided by the Schools Party and Administration Joint Conference, and subsequently announced.
