Strengthened Cooperation Established Between School of Foreign Languages and Emperor Qinshihuang’s Mausoleum Site Museum

November 24, 2023

On November 17, 2023, a seven-member delegation from the School of Foreign Languages, Central South University (CSU) visited the Emperor Qinshihuang’s Mausoleum Site Museum. The delegation was led by Li Tao, Party Secretary of the School, accompanied by Zhong Wenming and Yan Hongfu, Associate Deans; Chen Jie, Party Branch Secretary of the Department of English; and faculty members Wang Xiaodong, Guo Wei, and Tian Sha. The visit focused on advancing museum-school collaboration and talent cultivation, and featured the unveiling ceremony for the Provincial Demonstration Base for Joint Talent Cultivation between Central South University and the Emperor Qinshihuang’s Mausoleum Site Museum.

Li Gang, Party Secretary and Director of the Museum; Tian Jing, Deputy Party Secretary and Deputy Director; and representatives from relevant departments, including the Public Education Department and the Party and Administration Office, attended the event.

Central South University and the Museum have maintained cooperative ties for 25 years, achieving notable results in jointly establishing a Patriotism Education Base and teaching internship bases. The partnership was recognized as an “Outstanding Internship Base of Hunan Province” in 2005 and 2012.

At the symposium, Li Gang welcomed the CSU delegation and outlined the Museum's recent progress in archaeological excavation, cultural relic preservation, exhibition design, and public education. He expressed expectations that both sides would further strengthen exchanges and leverage complementary strengths. Li Tao extended appreciation for the Museum's long-standing support for CSU students' oral English internship programs and presented an overview of CSU’s century-long history and disciplinary development. Tian Jing commended CSU student interns and volunteers for their valuable services during the summer peak tourist season. Drawing on their practical experience, Zhong Wenming and Yan Hongfu also proposed suggestions for future collaboration.

Both sides reviewed the history of joint base development and exchanged views on deepening cooperation, with a focus on enhancing talent cultivation systems, developing specialized terminology databases, and advancing the international communication of Qin culture by leveraging the linguistic advantages of the School of Foreign Languages. The unveiling of the joint talent cultivation base was jointly conducted by Li Tao and Li Gang.

Since the signing of the teaching internship cooperation agreement in 1998, the Museum and the School of Foreign Languages of CSU have developed distinctive practices in museum-school collaboration and joint talent cultivation. The meeting has greatly boosted cooperation and exchanges between the two institutions. Both sides expressed their willingness to leverage their respective strengths, expand channels of cooperation, and contribute to the international dissemination of China’s outstanding historical and cultural heritage.
