Team from School of Foreign Languages Presents at “Telling Hunan Stories in English” Short Video Competition Award Ceremony

On the morning of September 15, 2023, the Hunan Provincial College Student Short Video Competition on “Telling Hunan Stories in English,” themed on thoroughly studying and implementing the guiding principles of the 20th National Congress of the CPC, concluded in Changsha. The event was jointly organized by the Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee, the Education Work Committee of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee, and the Department of Education of Hunan Province, and co-hosted by Hunan University and Higher Education Press.

The creative team from the School of Foreign Languages SFL, Central South University, which produced the award-winning work Hunan Embroidery, was invited to share their creative experience at the closing ceremony.

Qiu Aihua, Deputy Director of the Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee, and Tan Fangzheng, Editor-in-Chief of Higher Education Press, attended the ceremony and delivered speeches. Professor Liu Zhengguang from the School of Foreign Languages, Hunan University, provided commentary on the competition entries. Luo Guixiang, Inspector General of the Department of Education of Hunan Province, announced the list of award winners. Representatives from the Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee, Hunan University, and Hunan Agricultural University jointly participated in the handover ceremony.

Wang Hualing, Associate Dean of our school; Wang Wenyan from the Ideological and Political Education Office; Li Lijun, Director of the Foreign Language Center for Non-Majors; Fang Zheying, Deputy Director of the Department of English; and Geng Liqin from the Department of English attended the closing ceremony. Lu Yu, a 2021 undergraduate student, presented on behalf of the team and was interviewed by Hunan Education TV. The ceremony was covered by multiple media outlets, including Rednet and the official video channel of the Department of Education of Hunan Province.
